Day 2 wrapped up!

This first week proves to be and continue to be interesting.  Lots of where’s my class, what do I bring, uniform or no uniform etc etc.
Classes range from Culinary Techniques – basically watch and learn because you’ll be using this stuff in your labs this week approach. To the history of baking and cooking – far more interesting than I expected to be honest.  Also practical hands on classes like Kitchen Production and Baking.

Today was our first Baking class and i have to say i’m seriously looking forward to more. Great instructor and we actually baked in our first Class today!  A team effort but we got to eat the results which is a nice perk indeed.  Today our Baking Chef was making a point of stressing how important it is to think outside the box and the importance of team work in a kitchen.

Below you can see our efforts of the evening.  Coconut and pineapple pound cakes made for the Dean’s retirement party.  Some topped with a pineapple reduction and a coconut glaze and some just with the glaze.
We took the basic recipe and Chef decided what we’d add to change it up.  That’s what she is looking for over all from us.  Make it unique and good and ours.
