Shimmer & Shine

Some smooshing, embossing and glitter!

AECP’s Class 9 is call Let it Shine and that just called to my happy inky glittery little heart! So for this card I had to pull out some of my favourite techniques. I started with a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 piece of Cannon XL Watercolour Paper and did some fun smooshing on my glass mat with Deep Iris & Andromeda Crisp Dye Inks from Altenew. I added a sprinkle of Lilac Waterfall Shimmer Powder from Nuvo and a spritz of water to activated it after the inks had dried. I set the panel aside to dry and worked on the die cut word and sentiment strip .

More shine and some dimension.

I used Altenew’s Shine Like a Diamond Stamp and coordinating Die set in a few different ways on this card. I took some Recollections pale purple glitter cardstock and inked it up using the left over ink on my palette and a paint brush, to match the base colour in the panel and the inked sub sentiment strip. I cut the large word die from the set out using my Big Shot and set it aside. I inked up the sub sentiment from the stamp set using the Andromeda ink and cut it out with an MFT sentiment die.

Once the panel had dried I powdered it well using my Cotton Tail anti static powder tool. Using my Misti I inked it up with Versamark Watermark & Embossing ink. I deiced to go for a subtle gold embossing powder and used the Ranger Fine Detail Embossing Powder in Princess Gold. Watercolour paper has a tooth (texture) that resists easy inking so I only inked it up once to get the fabulous irregular effect. Once the gold embossing was set I splattered a little of the Andromeda ink on the panel with a paint brush to pull the dark purple colour just a bit more. Then I added the Shine sentiment with some liquid adhesive and popped the sub sentiment up with some foam strips. Once the front panel was ready I added a foam panel behind it and attached it all to a side fold A2 card base made from Accent Opaque 100lb cardstock.
