A little Scene Building

For this last class in the Level 1 AECP the topic was Seasonal Scene Building. I was going for a cozy indoor feel by using two of Altenew’s Mini Delight Stamp and Die Sets: The Armchair & Comfy Couch. I picked one of my gel print panels that reminded me of wallpaper, masked off the bottom 1/3, and used a combination of Desert Night Ink and an Altenew Artist Marker in Nimbus to create the look of a carpet. The front panel is 80lb Neenah Classic Crest Solar White, which works beautifully for stamping and colouring and is a great weight for layering.

This is an A2 top fold landscape card

A big part of being part of the AECP is to challenge myself, stretch my creative muscles, and learn new skills and techniques. I faced my fear of not being good at something, that something being colouring with alcohol markers, so I put my brave pants on and gave it my best shot. I used the colours from the Altenew Space Garden Set to colour the couch, pillows and the lamp. I used Altenew Jet Black ink to stamp the design on the pillows and to add the sentiment once everything had dried. I used liquid glue to attach the lamp directly on the card front and a double sided foam tape to give the sofa some dimension.

The sentiment is from the Altenew Let’s Go Stamp & Die set. It was a perfect fit for this card and the feeling I was aiming for. I added just three Moonshine Confetti pieces for a touch of shine around the sentiment. Then adhered the panel to a black matting layer to give a 1/16″ border to balance the black sentiment and make the colours pop a little more.
