About Me

Well hello! I’m Kim and welcome to my wee spot on the web. Grab your favourite cuppa and enjoy! This blog is mostly about sharing my creativity and passion for cardmaking and paper crafting. Tho don’t be surprised if you see some scrapbooking and food type posts as well! A creative soul needs her hobbies after all!

The name Touch of Magik comes from two places, my belief that when we create and share something made with our own hands we are passing along some of our personal Magik in our talents & creative gifts. Art is funny that way, we put a great deal of who we are into the things we create and it can make us vulnerable but also proud of who we are and what we can create.

The name is also an homage to my parents. My Mom was my example of a woman who believed in herself and took no guff. She built her own business’s and showed her kids what it meant to be self made. She started a small jewllery business when I was about teen and she was, so called, ‘middle aged’ called Touch of Gold. We did home parties and I learned a great deal about treating every person as though they could afford the moon even if they couldn’t. She was a classy lady until the day she died and I hope I still make her proud. And my Dad helped me to see the Magik in our everyday. And especially in our Irish heritage and in the joy of crafting handmade items. He was a leather-craft artisan and he made custom purses and wallets just to name a few things. Those of us in the family lucky enough to have any of Dad’s creations cherish them dearly. He spent many years as a vendor at craft and artisan shows all over southern Ontario.

I started a home based business in October of 2000 with Creative Memories. I loved doing home parties, workshops and teaching scrapbooking. Helping people create photo albums to document the ‘why’ of all the photos we take has been a passion and joy for 22 years and counting. I don’t think I’ve bought a card from a store since I attended my first scrapbooking class in 1998! I really loved being able to use my creativity to customize gifts for family and friends. Along with teaching scrapbooking all these years I’ve also taught cardmaking classes. Over the years my cards have certainly evolved into wee pieces of art rather than just a fun way to use all the paper and stickers I have! As I often like to say, Scrapbooking is how I tell the stories of my photos and cardmaking is my artistic expression.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you find some inspiration here on my blog.

Warm regards,

Kim

  1. Hi Kim,

It was so nice chatting with you earlier today at the Dundas show. I’m sure the show was a complete success for you. Your cards are absolutely beautiful and I’m not sure I will be able to part with the 3 cards I purchased today 🙂

I wish you continued joy and passion in your “magikal” world of creating and bringing smiles and admiration from those that have the opportunity to view your cards.

Maybe one day, I will find the confidence to participate in a show and maybe see you there.

    All the best,

    Patricia McKeon-Dundas Watercolourist
